Set a bench to roughly 30-45 degrees. Sit back with the dumbbells resting on the thighs, then kick them into position at shoulder height.
Press the dumbbells up and slightly together until the elbows are extended, then lower under control until a comfortable stretch is felt across the chest.
- Keep the chest up and shoulder blades set
- Wrists stacked over the elbows
- Control the lowering phase
- Setting the bench too upright, turning it into a shoulder press
- Cutting the range of motion short
- Clashing the dumbbells together at the top
- Flat dumbbell press
- Neutral-grip incline press
