Why The Science
Base Exists.
The Science Base exists to make evidence-informed fitness information practical and understandable — connecting exercise science with real training decisions, without pretending there is one perfect way to train.
Clear, practical, honest.
Fitness information is often conflicting or oversimplified. The Science Base aims to provide clear, practical explanations while being transparent when evidence is uncertain or context-dependent.
Where it started.
The Science Base was created by Carlos Orozco, a University of Texas at Austin student studying Kinesiology and Health with a focus in Exercise Science on the pre-physical therapy track.
Carlos's interest in fitness began as a young teenager when he struggled with his weight and started exercising and changing his habits to lose weight and improve his health. What started as weight loss developed into a genuine interest in training and questions about why different methods work, how the body adapts, and how muscle, strength, movement, and performance can be improved.
That interest grew into a passion for fitness and exercise science. Carlos now hopes to become a physical therapist and help others improve their movement, performance, health, and quality of life.
The Science Base grew from the same curiosity: turning exercise science into practical, understandable information that can help others make better-informed training decisions.

How the base is built.
- Evidence-Informed — use credible evidence where possible.
- Practical — science should help people make useful decisions.
- Transparent — avoid false certainty, fake precision, and invented citations.
An evolving project.
The Science Base is an evolving educational project. Exercise demonstrations, references, and content will continue to be reviewed and expanded. Where references or videos are missing, that is shown openly rather than filled in with made-up material.
Help make the base better.
